Ryan: 1 WEEK OLD

This past week has been an emotional rollercoaster. Matt and I have both had our moments and breakdowns but all in all it has been amazing. It is crazy to see how much a baby can change in one week! Here are a few pictures of Ryan throughout the week.

Ryan Matthew Oakey

So...we finally have a name for our little guy! After a lot of back and forth we decided this morning that his name will be Ryan Matthew Oakey. This isn't even a name we had really talked about but in the end nothing else fit...he just looks like Ryan to us.

This is right after he was born

Matt posted the pictures yesterday and I had a few minutes today so I figured that I would add to his with some more pictures. Since yesterday he has already changed (his face isn't quite as swollen today). We are already in love with our little man.

Ryan and I are both doing really well. He is just a little stubborn and doesn't want to eat but other than that, he is doing great! I am feeling good and am very grateful that I had an easy delivery! I am definately a little sore today but overall I feel great. Here are a few more pictures of the proud grandparents that were here.

Baby Oakey is finally here!

Today on October 24th, Camie gave birth to a healthy 7 lb 8 oz, 20 inch baby boy! We are in the finaly stages of choosing a name...by tomorrow we will have finalized. Sorry we are the worst decision makers ever! It all started Thursday night by eating a wonderful meal at Texas Roadhouse and then checked in at 9:00 P.M.

The nurse started the pletosum(?) at about 3:00 A.M. but she was only dialated to a two. At about Six they checked her again, but still not much progress. Finally around 12 noon, she was dialated to a 5. Thinking we would have plenty of time, Dave, Debbie and I went down the street to get lunch. After we finished eating, and Debbie was in line for some ice cream, I recieved a call from Camie saying she could have the baby any minute. So I literally yelled and Dave and Debbie saying we have to go. So we got in the car and made it back just in time. When I came into the room, she (Camie) was pushing and I could see the head! We didn't dare push til Dr. Nichols got here who was just down the hall. But there was what they call a "Code Pink" where a wrist band from a baby was misplaced so all the doors were locked and our Dr couldn't get through the door. Finally, a security officer heard the banging on the door and let him in. After Dr. Nichols got to our room, the baby was born after 2 big pushes. Way to go Camie!

He was born at 2:18 P.M., weighed 7lbs 8oz and measured 20 inches, which I think is about 2 inches shorter than what he really is. But he's healthy and has a cool birth mark on is right elbow. We will add more pictures as soon as possible!

Good Job Matt!!!

So it is hunting season and Matt has been sort of worried about it for 9 months now. Hunting is like Christmas for him so when we found out that I was due right in the middle of the deer hunt, he started to worry. Luckily for him, the Elk hunt was this past weekend and he got to go hunting a couple of times. We figured that if he atleast got to Elk hunt he would survive if he couldn't spend alot of time deer hunting. This past Saturday morning was one of his last chances before the Elk hunt was over and he hadn't shot his Elk yet. But through the snow and cold weather Matt was determined to get one. Early Saturday he spotted this spike and went for it. He was all alone hunting but he got his Elk! These animals are about the size of a horse so it is kind of a big deal to actually kill one. The bad thing is that they also weigh anywhere from 600-1000 pounds and when you shoot one without any help it turns into a long day on the mountain. Matt is lucky to have such a great family, one of his cousins was nice enough to come up and help him get it off the mountain before the bad snow storm...thanks Keith!

Anyways, good job Matt!

Getting Ready....

So for those of you who haven't noticed, we only have 18 days left until our baby (who is still nameless might we add) is born! We are so ready for this little guy to get here. Thanks to all the generous gifts from family and friends, we have most everything we will need for him! I can't thank everyone enough for the diapers, clothes, toys, furniture, etc. that you have given us! It means so much to know that we have such supportive family and friends surrounding us! Thanks again to everyone!!!

A great visit with the grandparents!

For a while now, Matt and I have wanted my grandparents to come up the canyon with us. We planned a great weekend with them and were able to spend some time with them as well as my parents, Bret and Jan, and Drew. It was alot of fun. It was my grandpa's 76th birthday the first night they were here so we went to dinner for that. Matt's sisters and mom also planned a reallly nice baby shower for me while they were here so my grandma could come to it! Thanks so much!!!! Here are a few pictures of the weekend.

Celebrating my grandpa's birthday! (By the way, I really look pregnant now!)

One night we all had pizza at Bret and Jan's house

These last few picture are up in the mountains with everyone. The leaves were so pretty! If you look close, Drew has a nice shiner from basketball and sorry to disapoint some of you but Matt gave in and shaved. He couldn't take it! The last picture is me, Matt, my mom, and grandpa we are all looking for Elk with our binoculars!

6 weeks and counting!

Well I have about 6 weeks left until our baby is here and we are realizing how close it really is. We are both super excited but it is starting to feel really real!!! The past 7 months have really gone fast but it just seems like time is slowing down. Hopefully the next month and a half don't take too long to get here! Matt actually had this idea to help pass the time, so until the baby is born, he decided he isn't going to shave or cut his hair! Anyone who knows Matt knows that this is gonna be hard because he HATES long hair. The facial hair won't be too hard because he usually tries it each year in preparation for the Deer Hunt (which happens to be the same week that I am due). I really think this is just his excuse to get an early start on it for that but oh well :) Here is the before picture of him. He hasn't shaved in 4 days and this is how far he is. We will post the after picture when the baby is born (if he can last that long).

For those of you I don't see very often, here is a picture of my tummy right now. I feel absolutely huge and have really gotten alot bigger in the past couple weeks. Its so fun to see and feel him moving so much!
