Day 60: DREW

I know I have already used my family as a Happy, but when you share a Birthday with your little brother can't you use him again?

I love my younger brother Drew, he makes me Happy. We share a birthday so we are exactly three years apart and guess what, our birthday is tomorrow.  Him and his wife came up to visit this weekend so we had a little party today. It's funny because when we were little, I never liked sharing my birthday. Now it is really fun. My mom always puts candles for both of us on the cake and we blow them out together.

Drew and I have always been close. When we moved to Oklahoma neither of us had very many friends. In fact, I really didn't have any friends at all.  Drew and I did everything together that summer. We swam together, played basketball together, looked at our basketball cards together, and we even had sleep overs in eachothers' rooms on Christmas Eve (ok let's be honest here, the sleepovers kept going all through high school too and Drew slept on my floor on a foam pad ). I can honestly say that during this time Drew was my best friend.

It is always a Happy to see Drew and we love seeing his wife Chelsea too. Ryan absolutely adores them, they will both be great parents when they have kids.

Day 59: Relief Society Basketball

This may sound completely cheesy to everyone and I know I have already used basketball as one of my previous happies; but seriously, I love the women in our ward and when you combine that with basketball, they are so much fun.

Church sports are a little scary. I mean last weekend one of our team members took a charge and hit her head on the floor. She had a concussion. Really a concussion in church ball, come on right?  Most of the women have never played competitive so it can be a little unorthodox at times but I tell ya, they have fun doing it and they work hard too!

Last night was the Championship game for our region or area. Guess what....WE WON. We even got t-shirts that say Champions! It was so much fun.  We only lost two games all season (one of which was a forfeit). I was so proud of our team. We have improved so much throughout the season and last night we beat a really good team from Mapleton.  It has been such a Happy thing for me to be able to play for fun!

I told our team that I think the Bishop should have us all come up on stage and announce to the ward that we won the tournament. How funny would that be!?!

Sorry I will post a team picture when I can but another guy in our ward took them so I don't have a copy yet

Day 58: My Mom

Today is my Mom's birthday. Yes, she really was born on April Fools Day.  Through this entire Happy process, my mom has asked or made comments on more than one occasion like, "When am I going to be your Happy?"  I just kept assuring her that she would make my list of 100.  I have been waiting to use her for my Happy until her birthday.

So Happy Birthday Mom!!!

I don't think I can say enough about my mom. She is the best mom someone could ask for. I don't think I tell my parents how much I appreciate them enough, especially my mom.

My mom is selfless.  This has been proven all throughout my life. I can't even begin to count the number of basketball games that she has sat through, driven across Texas to attend, or flown to Hawaii for.  She has sacrificed so much for me as well as Adam, Bret, and Drew and usually doesn't gain anything from it.

I have learned how to be a mom from my mom. Now I don't say this out loud very often because I am a little prideful at times, but I really do learn so much by watching my mom with my kids and her grandkids. There is a reason that the kids are absolutely ecstatic to see their Grandma Debbie.

I am convinced that she loves her kids and grandkids more than anything else in the world. I could never really understand how a parent could love like this until I had my own kids.  I totally get it now. I understand why my mom saved up and wanted to take all the kids to Hawaii on a trip of a lifetime, why she cried every time she came to visit me in College and had to go home, and why it is so hard for her to be away from my brother's and their families now (I'm the lucky one, she lives 10 minutes away now).

These are a few pictures of my mom in my (recent) life:

Thanks mom, you do make me Happy! I love you and I am so lucky to have a mom like you.

Day 57

This makes me so Happy today:

I swear these are not just weeds, these are my tulips. Just waiting to start showing themselves :)
How can you not be happy when these are popping up in your yard. It can only mean one thing....it is getting warmer and Spring really is coming!  Plus fresh flowers in your yard are just pretty;)

I just had to include this picture as well, it is one of my first pictures of both kids smiling and actually looking at the camera. Don't mind that Halle just woke up and still has the "sleepy" look in her eyes. I love these two and after last night (see my post from yesterday) pictures like this remind me that they are not that crazy all the time!

Day 56:Bedtime

As much as I love my kids, on days like today, nothing makes me more Happy than bedtime. All I have to say is, the silence is GOLDEN tonight!!!
